The exposure determination required under 29 CFR 1910.1030(c)(2) used to be a hand-edited section of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan. PrepRoom now reads the active employee roster and renders the determination automatically.
What changed
When you generate or refresh your Exposure Control Plan, the exposure determination section is built from the roster. Each position with embalming scope set to yes is listed under "positions with occupational exposure." Each position with embalming scope set to no is listed under "positions without occupational exposure" with the appropriate qualifier (greeter / visitation, office, owner non-embalming).
Tasks and procedures that involve occupational exposure are listed for each covered position, drawn from the funeral-service-specific task library: arterial injection, cavity treatment, aspiration, removal of unembalmed remains, post-exposure cleanup.
What you still own
Two items remain manual because they are firm-specific:
- Schedule and method of implementation for each section of the standard.
- Designation of the responsible person for the plan.
Both have prompts in the editor when the plan is opened.
Annual review prompt
The plan is now flagged for annual review on its anniversary date. The standard at 1910.1030(c)(1)(iv) requires the plan be reviewed and updated at least annually and whenever necessary to reflect new or modified tasks and procedures. The dashboard surfaces the upcoming review at 60, 30, and 14 days.
Available now to all funeral homes on the Pro plan.
